The Challenge

Battery giant Duracell sought to meet customer battery needs inside Kroger stores without over-complicating the shopping process or cluttering the aisle. Multiple battery sizes and potential consumer confusion added to the challenge for this 2,000-store installation.

The Solution

The ImageWorks design team worked in collaboration with Duracell and Kroger to design a streamlined battery endcap. A curved base and curved edges plus efficient shelving enabled Duracell to promote its full line, while material selection managed the unit’s overall weight. A pallet-jack-friendly base design enabled easy installation. Consumer-friendly cell designators and an integrated sizer tool for coin-type batteries added to the unit’s appeal.

The Result

With its approachable design and eye-catching finishes, the Duracell endcap quickly boosted impulse sales of batteries. Kroger recorded a stunning double-digit increase in battery sales in just a few weeks.

It can be a challenge to manage so many SKUs in a busy retail environment. Displaying all of our products in a central location enhanced the customer experience and created focus for our brand.
